All Iowa attack is EXPANDING IN 2021!

All Iowa Attack boys teams to be formed in the Des Moines Metro & Coralville areas

We are excited to announce All Iowa Attack is expanding its boys youth basketball program to offer teams in the Des Moines metro & Coralville areas starting Fall 2021!

All Iowa Attack, established in Ames in 2004, is a non-profit organization designed to positively impact kids, teaching life lessons through the game of basketball. With a focus on teamwork, diligence, discipline, and development, All Iowa Attack provides a practical environment that goes far beyond X’s and O’s to prepare for the future. We are more than basketball. We believe the game is an opportunity to empower today’s youth to be tomorrow’s leaders.

In pursuit of that mission, All Iowa Attack started its first expansion to Coralville in the fall of 2020, housed in a beautiful facility, GreenState Family Fieldhouse. And now, just a few months later, we are excited to expand to a third location, in the brand new MidAmerican RecPlex in West Des Moines.

All three sites will operate under All Iowa Attack leadership, direction and vision. Our goal in expanding to Coralville and Des Moines is to create opportunity, closer to home, for 3rd-11th graders across Iowa, providing access to an educational and competitive basketball program for. Today’s family and young athlete schedules are busier than ever  - shorter drives allows more focus on getting better by being in the gym!

The 3rd-8th grade boys teams will begin in the fall of 2021. 9th-11th grade teams will be offered in the spring of 2022.

3 Locations. 1 Program.

As we all know, this is a fluid enviroment we are living in and expansion now will bring some unknowns. We will do our best to layout the vision. This vision will be discussed at tryouts as well and there may be some changes as we proceed with these new locations.

Facilities that we call home

All Iowa Attack is fortunate to have 3 locations with outstanding facilities to call home.

  • Ames based teams will continue to operate out of our 6 courts in Ames that most are familiar with

  • Des Moines teams will call the brand new 3 court MidAmerican RecPlex in WDM home. We will be the sole basketball progam in the facility.

  • Coralville teams will continue to operate out of the 5 court GreenState Family Fieldhouse.

For the fall/winter season (Nov-Feb) we will offer 3rd-8th grade teams in each Ames, Des Moines and Coralville.

These 3 locations will all run independently.

  • Teams will be formed in each city

  • Teams will practice in their location only

  • Teams will not be mixed between locations

  • Coaches will work within their location only

The goal of the 3rd-8th grade Fall/Winter program is clearly to provide an enviroment and opportunity for players to improve their game. Our players need to be in the gym practicing and competing with one another. We will be in the gym 2x per week with team practices. We know people are busier than ever, so staying local and bringing Attack to you will benefit and allow for better practice participation!

For the spring/summer season (March-July) we will offer 3rd-11th grade teams in each Ames, Des Moines and Coralville and ELITE teams in 8th-11th grades.

AIA will again offer 3 locations for the spring/summer season.

Our 3rd-7th grade teams will operate indepently once again with teams offered independently in each location.

In the 8th-11th grades, we will offer teams that operate independently in each location. We will also have 1-2 "ELITE" teams per grade that will be built with the top players in the Attack program. These 1-2 "ELITE" teams per grade will be comprised of top players from across the state desiring to play at the highest level and the best tournament across the country.

Practice Philosophy & Coaches

Our philosophy and belief in helping kids become better players is that it takes alot of time and energy in practice. There is no secret to basketball, those that want to be in the gym and working hard on their game will get better. We will provide the platform and offer alot of practices in each season, usually 2 weeknights per week.

All Iowa Attack is always looking to add quality coaches and leaders to the program. We have a great core of experience and knowledge with our Ames program and staff that will rely on as we expand to Coralville and Des Moines.

We are excited about a large group of coaches/leaders we have hired to help lead our Des Moines program.  These guys are excited to join the Attack team starting this fall/winter:

Adam Emmenecker – From Saginaw, Michigan, Adam played for Drake University from 2004-2008. Beginning as a walk-on, Adam earned a scholarship as a senior and emerged as one of the unlikeliest sports stories in college basketball. The catalyst for a 28-5 Drake team that achieved a top-15 ranking and was a #5 seed in the NCAA Tournament, Adam was named the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-American of the Year, the Larry Bird Missouri Valley Conference Player of Year, MVC Scholar Athlete of Year and the MVC Tournament MVP. Adam went on to play basketball professionally in Germany and a brief stint in the G-League (where he was coached by fellow All Iowa Attack coach Lefty Moore).

Karl Madison – From Springfield, Illinois, Karl played for Drake from 2010-2016. A consummate point guard, Karl was third-team all-state in Illinois in his final high school season and was named to the MVC Scholar-Athlete team as a senior at Drake.

Brent Heemskerk - From Grand Rapids, Michigan, Brent played for Drake from 2004-2009. Brent played a key role on the 2008 Bulldog group that went 28-5 and received a #5 seed in the NCAA Tournament. Brent earned MVC Scholar-Athlete honors twice in his career.

Graham Woodward - From Edina, Minnesota, Graham began his college career at Penn State before transferring to Drake from 2015-2018. Graham was named to the MVC Scholar-Athlete team three times.

Spencer Haldeman - A native of Peosta, Iowa, Spencer attended Western Dubuque HS and went on to play for the University of Northern Iowa from 2015-2020. Spencer was named the Iowa Gatorade Player of the Year as a senior in high school. As a Panther, Spencer was named MVC Sixth Man of the Year in 2019 and MVC All-Freshman Team in 2017.

Alex White - From Albuquerque, New Mexico, Alex began his college career at Cochise Junior College in 2005 before transferring to Drake from 2007-2009. Alex played on the 2008 Bulldog group that went 28-5 and received a #5 seed in the NCAA Tournament and received All-Region honors as a sophomore at Cochise JC.

We will continue to add team coaches in both Coralville and Des Moines as the season approaches!
